If you are looking for a huge lake then this is it, You could say it is Lac St Cassien’s lesser known big brother. It is located right down in the South of France in Department 83 Var in Provence. The lake holds most species of fish but is known for its Carp fishing with fish to over 30Kg but it is kept very quite and hush hush It is also well known for massive Trout to over 10 Kg. This lake is huge at 2200 hectares thats 5436 acres which is 12 Km long and between 2 and 4 Km wide. This is the second largest lake in France with a dam and Upstream the Verdon Gorge is the deepest and spectacular in Europe (700m high in places!).

Like with a few of these lakes due to litter and rubbish left in the past night fishing is now prohibited so its just day fishing also you are not allowed to use any kind of BBQs , Fires or Gas stoves, so get a good flask. No Sacking of fish

Please note – When fishing any Public water in France please have respect for the location and clear up any mess that you have made and do not damage banks / vegetation and no open fires, Catch and release all fish except Trout and Salmon that rules let you take and when fishing for Carp use appropriate tackle with large landing net and unhooking mat. Fish stealing is a big problem from Public waters if you see anybody removing large fish like Carp please take note of the vehicle registration and report to authorities.
